Elektro Partner was founded 27 years ago at Stubben 7 in Larvik, Norway. Since then the company has grown, but our passion for the automotive industry is the same now as then. Our growth has implied that we now have activities in all Scandinavian countries as supplier to more than 6000 different garages.
At the moment, we employ 32 people in Denmark, six in Norway and three in Sweden. Our total annual turnover exceeds DKK 85,000,000, and we are proud to be self-financing.
When we started out, our motto was "The simple solution is usually the best", and even in today's increasingly complicated world, we help and encourage our customers to combine simple instruments with good old-fashioned craftsmanship. So even if the auto repair industry is ever-changing, we are proud to be able to help mechanics succeed in their profession. We know that our products and services make a difference to our customers, and that makes us proud.
Elektro Partner is owned exclusively by the founder of the company, Frank Donslund, and headquartered in our own buildings at Trehøjevej 2 in Grindsted, Denmark.
Based on the philosophy of helping our customers help themselves, we operate an automotive hotline and conduct courses in the use of our products. Our aim is to enable our customers to diagnose car problems correctly and help them get the full advantage of the data and equipment that we provide. Our customers trust in us, and we count on them. Over the years, Elektro Partner has proven its worth as a reliable partner, and we have no other interests than to deliver knowledge and equipment to enable our customers to perform repairs in accordance with the requirements of the car manufacturers. We offer everything from the necessary data and service specifications to assistance with specific problems, and we also take care of IT-related challenges, such as getting our customers' PCs to run with our programs. Every day, three IT-specialists are waiting for your call ready to provide immediate assistance. Furthermore, we have our own service cars in all three countries, which provide assistance where it is needed, and our customers can rest assured that spare parts for the machines that we sell are always kept in stock ready for immediate delivery.
Our employees have many years of experience working with cars, and several of them can be described as specialists in troubleshooting and car repairs.
We specialise in on-board diagnostic systems and the various electrical systems in particular, but in modern cars, diagnostics cannot be divided into electrical and mechanical, which is why we find it extremely important to have a broad knowledge of the mechanical systems as well and continuously seek to expand our knowledge and access to documentation. Our aim is to be able to give advise on all kinds of questions that may arise in connection with car repairs. Our 11 hotline employees have a total of more than 40 years of experience in helping professional mechanics solve all kinds of problems.
We sell products and services to all types of garages – from the smallest to the largest ones. Some of our customers are authorised garages that service other brands as well or repair cars that they have taken in exchange, but the majority are independent garages, and we believe the world would be a poorer place without these. In recent years, a number of truck repair shops have also become part of our loyal customer base, which counts around 6000 Nordic garages.
Annual Report 2018
It is now time for a look back to an unbelievable year! Elektro Partner benefitted like many others from an amazing summer, the never ending summer. For us, the warm summer meant record-breaking sales of air conditioning related equipment. The period of July and August is usually rather quiet, however not so in 2018. Some had to alter their summer holiday, but that was no problem. It was still summer in September. The year started with a good automotive trade fair in Norway. The trade fair brought clear evidence that the industry is alive and kicking. We have many Norwegian customers, and Elektro Partner Norway has once again had a record-breaking year. The Norwegian automotive market is changing in recent years. The increasing percentage of electrical cars is becoming important in the aftermarket. This has not influenced our business negatively, apparently, and we do not expect that it will in 2019. The percentage of premium cars with everything concerning safety and comfort equipment is one level above what we see in Denmark. In addition, cars with
automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive and the general adverse driving conditions all lead to the fact that garages in Norway are busy. More aftermarket garages have started working on electric cars, and in May we visited, together with Autodata, one of the centres in Bergen, which teaches repair and service of electric vehicles, partly to see the development and partly to see which data is needed for electric cars in the future. It was interesting and very useful to see how advanced Norwegian garages are when it comes to those cars. I wonder if the same trend towards more electric cars slowly begins to manifest itself in the rest of Scandinavia in the years ahead.
In 2018, we increased our activities in Sweden, and our Swedish team developed strongly in 2018. The automotive industry in Sweden is organised differently from the Danish. Over more recent years, we have gradually built a solid customer base in Sweden, and in 2019 we will continue to direct a fair part of resources this way. I would like to warmly thank our business partners in Sweden. The ongoing development in Sweden is very exciting. Because of growing activities, Elektro Partner Sweden AB was formed in 2018, and it will be interesting to follow the development in the new year.
In 2018, we established contact with companies outside of Scandinavia, companies which like us work with automotive data and diagnostic equipment and the related hotline service. We have found some interesting partners to team up with in 2018. In March, we visited a couple of hotline centres in Holland with years of experience with remote diagnosis over the internet. This encouraged us to start our own online diagnosis project, which resulted in our new product called Diagline. We only just managed to introduce this product in Denmark by the end of the year.
All in all, we developed as a company in 2018. New employees and competences have been added over the year. It has been an incredibly exiting year with large internal growth. Likewise, it has been interesting to witness how some of our ideas and programs proliferate at business partners outside of Denmark.
We broke a remarkable record in 2018 when we sold the highest ever number of diagnostic tools in one single year. The diagnostic package from TEXA has evolved greatly in recent years, as seen in the sales figures. Although there are no statistics to prove this, I have no doubt that TEXA had the best-selling diagnostic tool in Denmark in 2018. We are also very pleased with the development in Autodata in 2018. With Solara as owner, Autodata has reached a safe haven, which can be seen in the development of Autodata products. When we
combine all of this, we enter the new year with great optimism, and I would like to take the opportunity to wish all customers and business associates a happy new year and say thanks for your cooperation in 2018.
On May 10, we visited TEXA in Italy. The trip went by bus to Hamburg, from where there is a direct flight to Venice. TEXAs headquarters and factory are situated in Treviso, approximately a 30-minute drive from Venice, and it is an attraction in itself with imposing conditions and facilities. For Elektro Partner, who has been importer of TEXA products to Scandinavia since 2001, this was indeed a special occasion.
Back then, in 2001, there were only 60 employees at TEXA. Today there are 650, so this truly reflects a company in rapid growth and with major international success. Today, TEXA is a well-known brand regarding auto diagnosis and A/C recharge stations with its own global distribution network. In Scandinavia, Elektro Partner is responsible for sales and service of TEXAs entire product range. Therefore, it was a special day for those of Elektro Partner’s employees who had never visited the factory. No one visits TEXA without being astonished by the size and the exceptional working conditions, which characterise everything at TEXA.
TEXAs founder and owner, Bruno Vianello, has purchased, among other things, old cobblestones, shutters and windows, which had been discarded during renovations in Venice. All these materials have been incorporated in TEXAs interior arrangements, which create an absolutely unique atmosphere. In addition to its own coffee bar with Italian gourmet coffee, TEXAs employees can enjoy their lunch in restaurant-like facilities with a menu that undisputedly outmatches an average Danish packed lunch. And should you need a breath of fresh air, you can take a small stroll around TEXAs own garden with lemon- and orange trees, herb garden, fountain and a magnificent view of the Northern Italian landscape.
The company trip provided an opportunity to see and experience TEXA at close range and identify various contacts. It cannot and should not be concealed that we are proud to represent TEXA in Scandinavia.
Welcome to 2018.
I would like to thank customers and business partners for the cooperation during the year that was. Here I am, on New Year´s day, looking back at what happened in 2017, in the world around us as well as in the automotive industry as a whole. The trend in recent years, which includes major changes in the industry, also characterised 2017. As a company, we are comfortable with this. It is a necessary approach as our part of the automotive industry has changed more over the 3 recent years than over the 10 previous years. When Elektro Partner was founded in 1989, the catalytic converter and new advanced engine management systems enforced changes in garages. This entailed an increase of automotive data from what could stand on the front and back side of a postcard to fill an entire ring binder. The garages had to learn how to use the built-in diagnostic systems of the cars. It was a brave new world, and the beginning of Elektro Partner. I remember being on a course about engine control units in Bergen, Norway, where we went over the opportunities for self-diagnosis in an Opel/Vauxhall Kadett GSI. It was music to my ears to check out the engine and its opportunities for self-diagnosis.
What we offered in those days was primitive compared to the data and diagnostic equipment we offer today. We are incredibly happy that all our suppliers keep up with the changes. In June, I was on a course at Delphi in 48-volt light hybrid. It was quite an eye-opener, why has no one thought of this opportunity a long time ago?
I would like to thank TEXA for IDC-5, Axone Nemo and TEXA CARe. TEXA is still on the forefront when it comes to advanced multi-brand diagnostic equipment. I would also like to thank Autodata, which in 2017 put on a sprint upwards in a pace I have never seen before. Many people forget how much time and money it takes to produce data at that level. I would like to express my great thanks to the Autodata team, and in this respect, I am sure that I speak on behalf of the entire independent part of the automotive industry, as well as the individual car owner. Because without the work Autodata performs, it would be difficult to carry out service correctly in the modern car. Long live the free garage choice, in a time where there may be a long way to an authorised garage, which does more than selling new cars.
Change is a huge personal development generator. I have never experienced a more exciting technical development than in the years from 2014, in all my days in this industry. It is so exciting to be part of. It is absolutely crazy what has happened concerning development of safety systems, not to mention new ways of refining the combustion engine. Continuous higher performance and lower emissions, it keeps going on and on. It is exciting for a technical geek like myself.
We visited the IAA exhibition in September, and it was obvious to see that car manufacturers move in alternative directions in order to reduce emissions from cars as much as possible, as soon as possible. Smog in all the world´s cities clearly demonstrates that this is necessary, and that it is urgent. Emissions have truly become politicised. Personally, I think that people sometimes forget that not all pollution comes from our cars and that the demonization of diesel as propellant seems somewhat exaggerated. If you measure the emissions from a EURO 6 car engine, pollution is now so low that the real challenge in the short run is to get the older diesel cars out of the cities in a hurry. Overreaction or not, or what is propellant in our cars in ten years´ time, the trend moves towards more and more complex cars, if you consider the car as a whole. My vision is that people who can repair cars will have increasingly more work to carry out, and that we all have to keep pace with development. As a direct consequence of this, we began to develop affordable systems for work with and check of ADAS systems in the autumn of 2015. We finished this in 2017, and I am confident that it will be one of our major products in 2018, the year that is now well under way. Happy New Year.

2016 has ended, and it is time to take stock of yet another year passed. For Elektro Partner, it has been a year filled with activity. There have been many changes internally as well as externally. We have e.g. implemented internal job rotations making it possible for our hotline-, service- and IT-departments to work more integrated than ever before. In doing so, we have achieved an efficiency improvement which is in our customers’ favour in the form of an even shorter response time when contacting our company. We have also extended our sales department with internal sales consultants, so our customers at any time may get individual attention including information on products and prices. At the same time, we have made the job of translating more efficient and speeded up the development of web-versions of our own products. A noticeable effect of this will be clear in the space of 2017. We have probably never implemented so many new things over one single year. We have already established positive effects of this, and we will continue fine-adjusting throughout 2017.
We are also pleased to see the development at our suppliers. Both TEXA and Autodata have undergone a very positive development concerning products in the year of 2016. Our customers can tell by the efficiency of all work involving data and diagnosis. The Autodata program has undergone a considerable change throughout the year. As a result, time spent on finding the necessary data in Autodata has been reduced significantly. We estimate that an average garage saves 15 minutes on a day-to-day basis compared to former search options in Autodata.
The goal is of course to facilitate everyday life for dealers and car garages. We know that we make a difference for many garages with our service and our programs. We daily receive expressions of this, and it feels good to know that we are on the right path.
We work in a field of strong competition. Therefore, it give us great pleasure that the number of subscriptions have increased steadily throughout the year. We are very grateful for the place we have achieved regarding data- and diagnostic products. As a team, we can be very proud of our achievements in 2016. In other words, it has been a remarkable year for us and we look forward to 2017 with anticipation. With these words, I wish customers, business associates and last but not least suppliers a very happy new year.
